Every time I feel demotivated , exhausted, frustrated I watch Tony Robbins. His words have that power to make you realize your self-emotions. He always claims that we are what we mostly focus on, it’s the kind of choices we make that determine our life and future. Easier said than done but it is so easy to get distracted than to focus on something. I got really scared with the fact that the world has so much of distraction around. I remember when I would prepare tea for myself I would end up in my room distracted by my phone and later realize that the tea pot had completely burned , now I make sure I stay in the kitchen until the tea is prepared. I use to get off track a lot of times and to learn the importance of focus I started researching about it.
What’s the point of living if your life has no balance, right?
According to Tony Robbins there are 3 Decisions that everybody has to take in their life
Decision 1: Carefully choose what to focus on
Every moment millions of things compete for our attention. You can focus on things that are happening or what you want to create or the past. Where Focus goes, Energy Flows. This decision of ours shapes our life.
Sometimes I disconnect from everything and ask myself. Why did this earth have life ? Why is there gravity? Why was I born? Why do some people take life so seriously? What will happen to the world someday? Then I assure myself saying if we try understanding everything in this world we are surely going to get crazy. Some things are better left unsaid.
In today’s world everybody is looking for attention, from music, movies, entertainment, business, technology etc. everywhere there is so much of content being uploaded. But the question is where is your focus? Lesson learned from this question is find out which “should” needs to be turned to “musts “.
Decision 2: Figure out, what does this all mean
The quality of your life is controlled by the meaning you give to it. I am my biggest enemy and also my biggest savior. Before you focus ask yourself what does this actually mean; Does it make me happy? does it make me sad ? I had this bad habit of cursing myself, simply blaming myself for every wrong thing but not realizing it was my decisions which determined my destiny. Instead of blaming I tried consoling myself. I tried to keep my emotions more under my control. Your life takes on whatever meaning you give to it. With each meaning comes a unique feeling or emotion and quality of life. I think we have to trust ourselves sometimes even when we are not in a condition to do so. Ask yourself, deep within your thoughts regarding what does this all mean? Lesson I learned: “Meaning equals emotion and emotion equals life”.
Decision 3: What will you do
What good is focus if it does not inspire action!? Action could impact your way be it spiritual, mental, emotional or physical. I remember as a kid I would always fight with my younger brother for the TV remote and most of the time I’d bang it on the wall and regret it later when I had to get up every time to change the channel. Actions we take are powerfully shaped by the emotional state we are in . I always took the wrong decision when I was frustrated, angry, irritated. But to shape the actions and change them we have to shift our focus, and to shift our focus it is important to understand your state of mind so that we could give focus on something more meaningful and empowering.
Lesson learned – It’s not rocket science, we need to be aware of our patterns and continuously self audit ourselves to keep our focus on something meaningful followed by actions.
First and foremost understand your state of mind, simply calm down, try to be honest with yourself , ask yourself what is it that I am lacking , start believing in yourself. Trust me believing in yourself is not easy and it will not happen overnight and of course it will take days, months and maybe year but keep going and believing in yourself. Discover what to focus on, realize what does this all mean to you, take the decision of taking action. Practice and practice and practice and practice * infinity! Until you get bored of it, then again practice. Remember it will take time and lot of patience but it certainly will pay off.
